How well can you tell what is going on around you when you can’t see?  Imagine being blind and having to use your sense of hearing to “see” the world around you.  Close your eyes and try to tell what is happening around you right now.

 

Below, and on the next few web pages are sound clips that let you try to guess what is making the sound before you actually see it happen.  You can make a game out of this activity by playing the first half of the movie, but pause it before the picture appears.

 

Think about what you heard and guess the sound before you see the real action, then resume the clip by pressing the play button again, or by pressing the space bar.

 

You can write down your guess, and then check to see if you were right!
